Six Domains, One Strategy Large-Scale SEO Migration for ALAB Laboratories

SEO migration is one of the most high-risk operations within a domain – any loss of organic traffic can directly impact company revenue. ALAB Laboratories faced the challenge of consolidating six domains, encompassing over 220,000 URLs, while ensuring uninterrupted functionality for both B2C and B2B customers. An additional complexity was maintaining full site functionality (both front-end and back-end) throughout the process.

Challenges

  • Ensuring smooth execution and proper migration dynamics (minimal gaps between stages) to maintain service continuity for users.
  • Conducting the migration during the holiday season, a period marked by traffic anomalies and unusual bot and user activity.
  • Consolidating six domains with different objectives and numerous additional features into one platform – significantly increasing process complexity.
  • Preserving visibility and organic traffic during migration to a single site, despite an unstable environment.

Objective

The primary goal was to execute the migration seamlessly, without losing visibility or organic traffic – and even leverage the process to strengthen ALAB Laboratories’ search engine position. Optimizations implemented during the development phase enabled effective mapping and categorization of improvements, giving both teams – ALAB and Bluerank – room for growth and operational comfort in the months ahead.

Solutions

  • Phased migration – minimized risk and allowed full control of the process. Clear role and responsibility allocation ensured everyone knew what to do and when.
  • Comprehensive risk analysis – covering not only SEO but also the impact on paid campaigns, social media, algorithmic factors, user experience, and internal risks (e.g., server failures). This structured knowledge enabled contingency planning.
  • Redirect strategy – a critical element of any migration. Precise mapping and selection of URLs for redirection, removal, consolidation and elimination of inconsistencies ensured coherence for both users and algorithms.
  • Content audit and optimization – collaboration with medical experts guaranteed high-quality, credible content. Technical optimizations and barrier removal minimized migration risks.
  • Dynamic redirect system – allowed flexible responses to emerging challenges. Scripts executed specific tasks and reported directly to specialists, while regular domain scans expanded coverage to new URLs.
  • Active indexing acceleration – instead of passively waiting for Google’s response, we implemented actions to attract Google’s attention, including technical optimizations to facilitate crawling.
  • Content optimization during migration – not after completion, enabling immediate enhancement of material value.

Technology

The project leveraged advanced tools for SEO monitoring, analysis, and optimization, as well as content management systems for efficient publication and updates. A key component was the dynamic redirect system based on real-time monitoring – built on Bluerank’s proprietary technologies combined with external solutions. This approach enabled a simple yet effective monitoring and alert system, including preliminary error classification by severity and source.

Results

The migration was a complete success – every key objective was achieved:

  • Maintained organic traffic and visibility stability: post-migration organic traffic increased by 180% year-over-year (2025 vs. 2024).
  • Strengthened domain authority: keywords in TOP10 grew by 130% year-over-year (+14,852 keywords), with the trend continuing nine months post-migration.
  • Faster indexing of key pages: 100% of critical pages indexed within one week of each migration phase; crawl budget increased by 31% overall.
  • Protected SEO and content efforts: blog traffic rose by 190% year-over-year, and articles retained or improved their rankings.
  • Significant improvement in Core Web Vitals, site architecture, and overall technical health with UX enhancements.
